What You Need to Know Thu Jun 3 2010 Barbara Schaffer ![]() ![]() NEW MEXICAN immigration regulations went into effect on May 1, 2010. These will hopefully simplify and streamline immigration applications and eliminate some of the frustrations. Now your contact with the immigration service must now begin by filing an application via the internet, before going to the immigration office. This includes applying for an FM-3 or registering a change of domicile. The digital application includes a bar-coded print-out which you must bring with you. You will still have to write a letter specifying your request. At the right is our English translation of the window you’ll eventually get to if you want to extend your stay or renew an FM-3, for example. (The INM start page is www.inm.gob.mx/, but you can directly access that page by using the web address below.) When you are finished, click the button at the bottom of the screen that lets you generate two copies of the form. The system will then let you check your responses, before acceptance. If it’s all good, click the “sí” button at the bottom of your screen and make sure your printer is connected. The finished, bar-coded, document will print out for you to take to the immigration office. The only bar-coded form that counts is the one you sign and bring with you. The new FM-3 and FM-2 will be in the form of plastic card that will be updated electronically. What do you want to do? (menu: Extender la estancia - Extend your stay) Specify: (menu: de no inmigrante - Renew FM-3) (according to Passport or Identiy Document) Last name(s)__________________________________ First name(s)__________________________________ Date of birth (dd/mm/year) ______________________ Sex: (menu) CURP (not obligatory)__________________________ Marital state (menu) E-mail address (not obligatory)___________________ Phone (not obligatory - must be entered without spaces) ________________ Place of birth Country (menu) State or Province ______________________________ Current nationality (menu) Passport or Identification document Type of document (menu) Document number ____________________________ Country where issued (menu) Issue date (dd/mm/year)________________________ Expiration date ______________________________ Address in Mexico Street ______________________________________ House number __________________ Apartment number________________ Colony (E.g. (You do not need to fill out this section unless you have a representative who will be doing the paper work for you. If your representative is Mexican, get her IFE number. You can leave the CURP field blank.) Comments Here you can specify a need not included in the menu options. ____________________________________________ For more information visit: http://setram.inami.gob.mx:8080/solicitudes-web/estancia.html |
